I do not have much to write on this posting. Well, I guess we’ll see as I dive into my thoughts as I write this. This is just another random thought that popped in my head while reading through blog postings earlier. I would love to hear the thoughts of others on this. I was thinking about the great separation in how liberals and conservatives gather information and arrive to conclusion.
Liberals seem to be drawn more to opinion whether based on fact or not. In general they are quickly drawn to opinion even if they do not actually agree on the opinion itself. It is as if though they feed on that opinion to satisfy whatever emotional state they happen to be in at that specific time. Thus their conclusions are based in relation to the emotional connection they have with the topic. Liberals seem to invest a great deal of trust in the opinion of those that cater to their current emotional state. It seems that this actually reduces their desire to seek out fact to verify opinion as long as the opinion satisfies the current emotional state of mind. Liberals tend to be less flexible in their conclusion as long as that conclusion continues to sustain a direct satisfaction to their current emotional state even if the presence of fact proves opposite to their conclusion.
True conservatives on the other hand are much more inquisitive and far less trusting in the search for information. Opinion is not initially accepted with out some type of verification of fact. Conservatives are concerned more about being misled than they are with satisfying any particular emotional state. Conservatives tend to accept opinion more often when fact is stated and easily verifiable within the frame work of that particular opinion. Conservatives all though firm in conclusion accept challenging facts more freely based on the inquisitive nature of the conservative. The desire to seek out fact is more satisfying to the conservative’s emotional state of being rather than the emotional attachment to the actual topic or conclusion. Because of this conservatives are more open to arriving at a different conclusion than what was initially conceived as long as the new fact disproves the initial fact from which the initial conclusion was based.
That’s all I am going to write on this topic for now. I would love to hear what everyone else thinks about this.
